The Harvard Allston Land Company (HALC) was established to manage the development of 36 acres of the Allston neighborhood, including the selection of a developer team to oversee the first 900,000 square feet of research labs, residences, hotel rooms, and civic spaces across a 7 acre site.

Grayscale developed urban design and public realm capacity studies and principles that integrated the interests of the university representatives with those of the existing neighborhood and broader city. Grayscale supported HALC by structuring and facilitating a collaborative design and decision-making process across various client and consultant groups, and contributed to a comprehensive arts and culture strategy. Grayscale also provided guidance for the University’s district-wide equity and inclusion strategy.
