Urban Design Intern
He/Him
James Musasizi is a Master of Architecture in Urban Design Candidate at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. He has experience working as an architectural and urban designer in East Africa and the USA. With a keen interest in participatory design processes, his work explores how design practitioners can use their tools of communication to aid conversations that empower communities to have their voices heard at the table where design thinking and decision making takes place.
Before starting at the Harvard GSD, James studied architecture at Makerere University in Kampala and practiced for nearly three years working on projects that explored sustainability using local materials and building techniques. He was also involved in several community engagement workshops in which his skill for hand drawing and storytelling were utilized to reach out to a wide range of people. He loves to work alongside other like-minded individuals to create work that is meaningful and of value to more than just one person or group of people.
