They/Them

Graham Moitoso is a Boston-based urban designer and planner, a lifelong Massachusetts resident and an honors student at the Northeastern University School of Architecture.

Prior to joining Grayscale, Graham worked for the City of Boston Transportation Department to design and plan bus rapid transit and pedestrian improvement projects across the city, in addition to leading the team’s cartography and graphic design work. They have also worked as Landscape Installation Project Manager for the Boston Society of Landscape Architects, constructing a neighborhood park with the City of Chelsea and local environmental justice non-profit GreenRoots through a community-led design process. Graham also has a wealth of practical experience in architecture and preservation and co-organized the first coffee shop union in Massachusetts during their years as a supervisor at Pavement Coffeehouse.

Graham continues to work on a variety of urbanism research projects including a participatory mapping project in the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs, a community resilience project in the School of Architecture and a participatory green infrastructure project with the Boston Area Research Initiative. They are motivated to leverage place-based community knowledge to collaboratively plan urban infrastructure and utilize mapmaking and graphic tools to help make planning decisions.
